Use Trainerize's AI to Generate Workout Programs

What This Does

Trainerize's built-in AI can generate a complete, ready-to-assign workout program based on your client's goal, fitness level, and available equipment — in under 2 minutes — with exercise descriptions and coaching cues already written.

Before You Start

  • You have a Trainerize account (free trial available at trainerize.com)
  • You have at least one client added in Trainerize
  • You're logged into the Trainerize web app or mobile app

Steps

1. Open the Programs section

From your Trainerize dashboard, click Programs in the left sidebar (or tap the Programs icon in the mobile app).

2. Click "Create Program"

Select + New Program and give it a name (e.g., "Beginner Strength 4-Week — [Client Name]").

3. Access the AI generator

Look for an AI button or Generate with AI option at the top of the program builder. In some versions it appears as a sparkle icon. Click it.

What you should see: A dialog asking for client parameters.

4. Enter your client's details

Fill in the prompted fields:

  • Goal: Fat loss / Muscle building / General fitness / Strength
  • Fitness level: Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced
  • Equipment: Full gym / Dumbbells only / Bodyweight / Home gym
  • Days per week: How many sessions

Then click Generate.

5. Review the generated program

Trainerize will produce a multi-week program with exercises, sets, reps, and exercise descriptions. Scroll through and:

  • Remove any exercises that don't fit the client
  • Swap in exercises specific to their limitations (use the exercise search to replace)
  • Adjust progressions if they seem too aggressive or too easy

6. Assign to your client

When you're satisfied, click Assign → select your client → choose a start date. The client sees the program in their Trainerize app.

Real Example

Scenario: New client joining — 45-year-old woman, beginner, wants to lose weight and build confidence in the gym. She has access to dumbbells and a cable machine.

What you enter: Goal: Fat loss | Level: Beginner | Equipment: Dumbbells + cable | 3 days/week

What you get: A 4-week program with 3 full-body sessions per week, progressive overload week to week, complete exercise descriptions she can read from her phone during the session — ready to assign in under 3 minutes.

Tips

  • AI programs are great starting points — always review and customize before assigning to a real client
  • Save common program templates to your Trainerize library so you can build from AI-generated templates in the future
  • If Trainerize's AI feature isn't in your plan tier, you can generate the program in ChatGPT and manually enter it into Trainerize

Tool interfaces change — if a button has moved, look for similar AI/magic/smart options in the same menu area.
